Indoor Off Road
I've said it before and I'll say it again indoor off road would be fantastic - how about we have a heat for them at the open day and show others the potential? I will even bring a 2WD for people to have a go of?!

We can make a couple of jumps and temporarily put them on the carpet?

Oh by the way I have a meeting with the sports centre manager this coming Wednesday regarding building an outdoor off road track next to the centre.....early days but we'll see how it goes!

RE: Indoor Off Road
Dan,

Whats the issue with the sports centre not wanting us to use their mats?

If its just jumps we need and can run on the carpet as is, then it would seem nice and easy but where will we keep all the jumps? We would need a fair few to make it interesting, some double dips etc but we would need space to store all this stuff and that is what we dont have at inverurie (or probably anywhere else for that matter!)

If we could do something like this...

That would be great!

RE: Indoor Off Road
I think the idea is to bring a buggy if you have one, just for the open day to hopefully spark some interest in the no doubt bewildered onlookers.
If there is something we can make a jump or two out of, then all the better.

Dan is sure to charm the centre manager and we will then be able to make an exact replica of the picture above.
We're counting on you Dan.

RE: Indoor Off Road
I'll be bringing 2 off roaders to the open day! Fingers crossed!

Sports centre apparently don't want us to use their gear as any damages will need to be covered by club which it can't afford......I doubt there'd be damage but who knows.....worth the risk?

RE: Indoor Off Road
Didnt get around to a ramp but also have 2 offroaders - hint for anyone, if you build an Ansmann Mad Rat, get the ball races for it first as the drivetrain locks completely if you try to get the wheels to stop wobbling!

On the open day, are we actually racing? The TC will be just about re-built after the abuse it will get at the 24 race so will need a run out!

RE: Indoor Off Road
Phil, Is that a 2009 picture of campenhout? it looks like a few piece of astro turn have been changed from 2008 otherwise no more mods. It is a wonderful track to drive it a shame it's 900 miles away

RE: Indoor Off Road
George,
Not sure when it was taken. It is definitely too far away though. It sure would be nice to build something like that here.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that the sports centre manager is taken with the idea and doesn't mind a little landscaping.
What do you think of the idea?
Phil

RE: Indoor Off Road
There was a bit of interest from a few people to run a heat of offroad. I'm happy to do this but the offroad guys would need to find a tyre to use. The spiked tyres were really digging into the carpet and will probably start tearing it up.
