Li-Po recommendations...
This afternoon I got my hands on a pulsar 3 off ebay and am now looking to go Li-Po, any recommendations? Demon seems reasonably priced.
Does this whole 35c and 40c really make that much difference? Also how many Li-Pos people using, will 2 be enough? Keiran |

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
Keiran,
I have 2 as i am finding one is not fully charged at 1C between races at inverurie, as for the rating of the pack, I am not intelligent enough to tell you. |

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
I have 2 x 5000 35C Demon stick packs for my TC, and 2 x 4200 35C packs for my offroader and have had no problems. I also have a Trakpower 3200 30C pack which was my first lipo. I switched to Demon because I spent £70 quid on a Trakpower saddle pack and it was dead after one charge. Tried contacting them about it and they didnt want to know.
Since I'm even less intelligent than Chris, the only real difference I've noticed is that the Trakpower is lighter (less capacity). That may be something to consider with regards to the new 1350g weight limit. I've managed with 2 lipo's at evey meeting so far, for both TC and offroad. At Inverurie, a fully charged lipo's lasts 2 races and I only need to charge the first lipo for the final while I use my second for race 3 and 4. This is using a MM CellMaster with a Trakpower balancer in between charging at 5amps. As you know, the races are spaced out more at Stonehaven, so you have even more time to charge in between races. Your welcome to borrow my stick lipos this Sunday if you want to try them out. |

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
Although the lipo may last 2 races, it will still loose its peak voltage as it is used. Fully charged it is 8.4V, run it for one race then it is down to 7.8V ish so the second race you are slower no? That is my understanding and so why I try to make sure I use a fully charged one for every race.
My lipos are new (two races old) so should be in good condition, as per dazzas post, if you want to try these then feel free, I think I have one that is 25C so if Dasbos is 35C you can see if you can feel the difference |

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
Yup, that makes sense. (See, I told you I was less intelligent) Although I have to say I've never noticed any kind of noticable speed difference between first and second races. But maybe someone with more consistency such as Kieran would notice a reduction in power.

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
Why can't they keep it simple!? I'll have a wee dig around the rc-tech forum and see if I can find some information on it. Li-Po might have to wait a little bit, just had to shell out £60 for a replacement ESC as mine is outwith the 120 day warranty... what happened to giving at least a year!
Also, can you use Li-po on older setups? My wet car/spare ESC is brushed and doesn't have a Li-Po setting. |

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
The lipo setting is just a voltage cut out more than anything else. So you can buy a lipo cut out separately or just make sure you dont run the lipo too low.
If desperate you can use my brushless speedo out of the firedragon, altohough it does seem to loose power but I never got around to figuring out if it is the motor / sensor cable or the speedo. You ahve to remove and reinstall it though! |

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
Ouch.
I know Novak do a wee lipo shutoff module thingy (link attached) which might be for speedo's without this function. http://demonpowerproducts.co.uk/product_...ts_id=1779 Dont know exactly how it works or what its compatible with but I'm sure it will explain on the Novak website. If you want to borrow a couple of packs for a test, then you better arrange it before Sunday as I am doing offroad (unless the weather is really bad) and there is a chance Chris will be too . |

RE: Li-Po recommendations...
I am inverurie this weekend, need another round to have enough for championship.
I have a stick pack lipo with a tamiya connector on it which you can use all to yourself if you want K. My spare ESC has the tamiya connector as well but I think I can make an adaptor if needed. |
