RE: track changing
i dont think we will every make things allot slower because we have such a wide range of ability. To make a track slower you usually make it more technical but there is a limit to how technical we can make it until it becomes unfair on the new drivers. As for the track changing well that tends to happen because there is a corner(s) that dont flow with the rest of the track, meaning that lots of cars will run into the ropes creating a new line and providing it makes the track better and more enjoyable (FUN!) then i think that most people dont have a problem with it.
I do have to agree that there have been some parts in the track that have been made to easy but most of the time its better

RE: track changing
im not talking about ability of different people im talking about the track changing during the day. the way i see "flow" its preditable. when i started racing i didnt care if it was smooth flowing track. if i could get round the track i was happy.. going from one race to another the track has changed. faster/slower. you cant realy compare it to your last race, to see if you have improved. corners turn to straights making cars faster harder for marshels but this is another argument alltogther

RE: track changing
This is really down to the marshals on the track at the time. At the end of each race marshals should attempt to give their area a quick tidy up, that way the track doesn't eventually get wrecked by the end of the day.

Whilst I agree with what your saying Paul it's really up-to everyone to pitch in, we don't have time to stop the racing and sort the track out.

RE: track changing
the way i see it, the only way that the track is not going to change during a race day is if nobody crashes (unlikely) OR if we buy a roadrail system (http://www.roaddome.com/index.asp). this is unfeasible because its is expensive and looks like it would take even longer to set up than it does now.
unless anyone else has any other ideas.

RE: track changing
Let's just be thankful we don't run on wood using ropes like some clubs do in the UK - any mention of a tiny nudge and the track changes dramatically - there's no real way round this with any temporary track setup.

Even roadrail is not an ideal solution as cars get launched by the system, if you look at the shape of the rails they are sloped oneither side creating a ramp-like effect, it may not move if industrial velcro is used but there'd be cars flying everywhere guaranteed....

I'm afraid all we can do, as Keiran says, is to keep an eye on the track and ask the marshalls to put the hoses back to their original locations or do this in between heats.

Surely it doesn't matter - if the track changes for you then it changes for everyone in your heat so nobody has an advantage over anybody else really.

D Cool

RE: track changing
As I said to 1 or 2 people yesterday we could buy enough road rail to be placed just at the corners that take the biggest battering

RE: track changing
what about plastic dinner plates or a bit of flat plastic with velcro on them to put at the apex of corners

RE: track changing
just been at the scottish carpet round at ddrcc and the last time i was at ddrcc they used road rail, that was for the indoor GP, i liked it. When i was there on sunday they were not using road rail but simply box section plastic with strips of velcro on the underside. I thought it worked well.
so if we r thinking about geting a good solution to the problem its another cheep way of doing it
