What if I told you the BRCA were going to GIVE us their proper racing carpet AND track markers used at the indoor European championships? Yes you read it right.

Finally we could get rid of the blue carpet and sand filled hoses!

There's more......the BRCA will pay for us to hire a van AND pay for our fuel, the only thing we need is a driver! It will need to be collected from near Birmingham and stored for a couple of weeks prior to being used at the union square meeting. After which we can use it until the next union square meeting and so on...

We can't miss this, the carpet and markers are worth thousands of pounds.

So, HELP!! Can anyone come to the rescue?

Wish I could offer more help then this but...

I used this place 'Aberdeen Self Storage' when I moved from Aberdeen to Dundee to store some stuff for a few weeks...it's £20 a week for a 70sqf unit or £30 for a 150sqf unit

There are a few other storage companies available but not sure on prices.

It might be handy till more permanent storage can be found.

Dan, how long are these rolls though? They'd surely be a lot smaller than what we use at GRCC considering the size of the union square?

Ooh, not like im doing anything else, whats the age to drive a rental van? Im very willing to help out as it does give me something to do, hate sitting about >.< but do rekon because of me being under 21 theres no chance.

from what i know you can drive upto 3.5 tonnes at 17+ with a full license, but only some companies let under 21's drive a hire van, and only van experience ive had is a transit van and a little kangoo

According to my phone, birmingham from aberdeen is 432.9 miles, @ 7 hours 42 mins so could be done in a day or so

From our discussion with the officials, the carpet rolls are long, if we have to cut them to fit union square, we have to try cut it straight and then tape it back together at Grcc - we tape it at the moment so its not any different.

However, we need to confirm exactly how much carpet we will get - do you know the area of the sports hall?

I might be able to help out in picking it up, but it depends on when they want it collected. Also there is a small chance I may get sent offshore at short notice (happens quite a lot) meaning we would have to have a backup.

I also have a double garage, which naturally is full of junk. Well, half full actually, so could store the carpet in there. I've just measured it and its about 5.5 metres deep.
