RE: quick one
Hi Wonderboy,

Today is the 4 hour endurance race so Keiran is away at that so he might not reply straight away. Keiran can tell you if an M03 is ok, it would be the only one at the club as far as I know as everyone else has 4wd touring cars. Interesting that you have an M03 as I was looking at getting one as there are some discounts to be had with the new M05 being released!

RE: quick one
Wonder Boy,

We generally get together on race days, if you are wanting to get involved and are looking to buy a car, I would say put your pennies in your pocket and leave them there until you have come to a race and looked at what cars others are using.

It is good to just have a look and see the different levels of kit, we have every level from beginners to serious racers at inverurie. There are a few recent new guys so take the chance to see what they have started with and ask them if they are having any issues with it etc. There is always someone willing to help / chat / advise either at the races or on the forum. Its worth taking time at the beginning to get these things right or you can end up buying something that you quickly outgrow and cant upgrade.

Generally we race at Inverurie in the winter and stonehaven in the summer (SDRCC.co.uk), where there is a large purpose built outdoor circuit. If you buy a car to use at inverurie, you can use it at stonehaven (perhaps different tyres).

If you dont have an M03 and you think that you want to race properly, I wouldnt advise you getting one as you will struggle to keep up I think as you advance your racing. Try to have a budget in mind and then we can look at what type of setup would suit you best but some things for your consideration:

Lipo or nickle batteries
Ready to Run setup or a kit that you put together yourself
brushed or brushless (type of motor).

No matter what you go for you will need a fast charger to charge batteries during the day, overnight chargers just are not enough.

You may want to ask around to see what people have for sale, for example, there are often second hand cars, batteries, chargers etc which means you can get good kit for good money.

Feel free to keep asking questions.

Regards
Chris

RE: quick one
OK, see you then, make your self known as someone who is interested in starting up. If you go in the hall and turn left, the race control desk is in the corner, we can explain what you will need to get going. Everyones friendly and we can introduce you to the other beginners etc.

RE: quick one
we need someone a little grumpy in the club to balance things out, it would be good if you could print and stick a grumpy smiley on your car - just so we know its you!
