Next Meeting: in in -14820 day (01-01-1970)
Ever wanted to be a touring car driver but could never afford it?
Well now you can! Just on a smaller scale, 1/10th to be exact. Don't be fooled by their small size and the fact they are powered by electric motors. These little cars are more than capable of reaching speeds of up-to 40mph. Our race meetings are held at Inverurie in the Sports Centre.News
Sorry for the delay in getting this posted, see attachments on this forum post for the final positions. Hoping to get website up-to date tomorrow, just been a bit hectic at the moment.
First of all, most of you should have got my email but we have new carpet coming after the racing on Sunday. This is the Prima Felt stuff that was used at the union square and is basically what all serious indoor clubs race on. We are also getting the track markers.
I need more people to step forward and offer a hand this Sunday loading and unloading. Looks like were loading at 5.30pm at union square and unloading at Inverurie straight after that. 3/4 people should be enough at either end, we can all jump in one car to load. So if you can offer a hand please do, don't expect the same people to step forward!
Second, I will be looking at booking the hall sometime probably after the 10th May (hand-in date for my uni stuff) to patch the carpet together and change the rolls over to dispose of the old one. So again will be looking for lots of people to step forward and help out.
Thirdly, I hope to sort the forum out tonight along with updating the results.
Last of all, apologies but there will not be trophies given out on Sunday. They will be given out at the AGM instead, there have been a few issues that have prevented me getting them in time.
See you all Sunday.
Okay everyone with only two rounds remaining the season is coming to a close but we've quite a bit to look forward to as a club.
As a result of the Union Square GP event we will be acquiring the carpet and track markers. This is the proper Prima Felt carpet that is used at all the big events so is an opportunity we can't miss. The down side is there will only be 3x 25m lengths. I need to source where you can buy the carpet from and see how long the rolls are when bought, as I propose we extend them to 30m lengths to make better use of the hall.
We are going to need as many people as possible to help us get the carpets swapped over at Inverurie, hopefully on the 25th April. I'm going to get in touch with the sports centre manager and see if we can get the hall for a bit, they owe us for the double bookings so hopefully can work something out. This leaves us a problem, what are we going to do with the old carpet? I think we should probably hang onto the pipes for now until we are sure that the markers are going to work for us and if we have enough.
I'm also looking for people interested in joining the committee and helping run the meetings. This season I've pretty much been the only active committee member at the race meetings with Mark tied up with work commitments and Bruce vanishing! I feel there is too much reliance on me at the moment to run the meetings. I'm looking for more people to get involved, be it helping out with running the computer (more people need to know how to use it) or event orgainising/PR/.... the list of jobs are endless.
So to summaries:
- Mark 25th April on your calendar, its your club as much as anyone elses. Without people sparing there spare time we don't go racing.
- More people to take an active roll within the club.
- What do we do with the old carpet?
Please get in touch with me either through the forum or email me at keiran@grampianrcc.co.uk
Apologies for not getting them up sooner but my to-do list is growing quicker than I can work at the moment!!
Racing this Sunday at 1pm as per usual. I've been informed that there is a 10k race on so this could cause issues. Please give yourself a bit more time than usual just encase.
Last of all, I maybe looking for someone to run race control on the 4th April. I had been hoping to go down to the Scottish indoor champs, but obviously with the problems we had with the hall we're now running into April. At the moment I'm not totally decided as I need to find a motor first.
I'll talk to some people on Sunday about it but I'll happily teach others how to use it, the more that know the better.
Results for round 8 are now up along with the championship standings.
Racing next Sunday @ 1pm (7th March).
Sorry for the delay, results and championship positions updated.
After todays events I'd like to remind everyone that if you don't produce a BRCA membership card when asked you will not get to race. I don't require to see the card every meeting but I will ask for it if I don't have the number recorded on the computer as that means I've not seen it during the season.
Also I've been in touch with Jacquie the BRCA membership secretary to confirm the 3 races rule and it is as follows:
They are not eligible to race under the 3 meeting rule. Despite the fact that neither have been members for two years, the rule relates to completely new members - not renewing members, irrespective of the time their membership has lapsed.
BRCA membership gives you third party cover if you hurt someone, hence why no BRCA no racing.
I've posted a quick race report and results for the endurance race (link). Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and thanks to the Shetland + Dundee lot for making the trip to race with us. Hope to see you lot back next year for another exciting race

Next club round is 7th Feb at usual time of 1pm.
On the ball this time, results and championship positions are up-to date. Was good to see so many people at this round, with 33 people racing in total.
Endurance race this Sunday, if your still looking for a team feel free to use the forum to find one or email me and I'll try sort something out. Please let me know earlier, rather than later as its an organizational nightmare!!
If anyone isn't racing but fancies helping out it would be very much appreciated, just drop me a line if you can. Anyone fancy commentating?

Happy new year all!
Just a reminder that the endurance race is fast approaching, please get those entries in ASAP, it makes my life a lot easier!! Sorting xtals is a complete nightmare. Looks like we have 4 teams so far leaving 4 spaces available.
Please contact/email others and let them know about this event. I've had a few clubs in the past say they would love to attend but don't get the info early enough. I'll be sending an email out to the contacts I have but have always struggled to find others. If your struggling to get a team, then use the forum to find others.
A note to all club members! The year is up, and so is your BRCA membership. If you haven't renewed it with the club then please download this form http://brca.org/BRCA/join/2010%20Full%20member%20form.doc and send it away ASAP.
NO BRCA CARD NO RACING!! This is a must I'm afraid without BRCA membership you are not insured and as such if anything happens on the track we the committee members are the first ones in line for any legal action. You will have to show me your BRCA card the next time you race this year, if you have any problems then contact me and I'll try help you. For as little as £15 it gives your third party cover if you cause injury to someone else, and as far as I'm aware covers you in school playgrounds etc.
